Elementary
A Tradition Unlike Any Other
St. Vincent Elementary School is part of a Kindergarten through Grade 12 Catholic education system operated by St. Vincent de Paul Parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The elementary schools are child-centered and committed to providing strong academic and developmental programs which enable children to grow to their full potential. We are dedicated to empowering our children to meet the challenges of living in an ever-changing diverse world. Our faculty and staff are faith-filled and strive to meet the children’s individual needs. The elementary schools are fully accredited by the National Federation of Non-Public Schools.
We strive to instill a love for Jesus in each child and also strive to teach the students about His great love for them.

Why Us
Our Academics
Accelerated Reader is now online. Each family has a password that tells how to access the web-based program and check the progress of their child. This password allows you to see how many and which books your child has read. Kindergarten will begin using this program a bit later in the year in case you are wondering why your child has not taken a test yet. This takes time to teach our youngest students.
AR app for the iphone: There is an app available for iphones that will allow parents to check the progress of our independent reading at SVES during the school year. The app is called K-12 Activity. This is a free widget for AR. If you click on the little i in the bottom right corner you will be able to enter our school access code: SVES-4KC. This will show you each day how many books were read and tested over using our AR program.
Differentiated Instruction is the concept of tailoring instruction to fit the needs of each student. All students learn at different rates, and ability levels and St. Vincent Elementary School prides itself on ensuring that every student has an educational plan that is both customized to fit the students individualized needs and challenging to maximize potential. The SV Elementary School employs one Learning Consultant and one Academic Resource Teacher that assess the progress of each student and helps create individualized education plans to meet goals. These Learning Consultant and Academic Resource Teacher work directly with both the teachers and students to assist in creating and implementing classroom strategies for students.
St. Vincent Elementary School also partners with the MO Department of Education and receives funding called Title 1 which is used to employ two teachers in the elementary school who work directly with students who are in need of improvements in key areas like reading and language arts. These Title 1 Teachers work with students on a one on one basis and also in small groups in addition to the regular instructional program and provide assistance to both the classroom teachers and parents.

Each day the children say a variety of prayers at St. Vincent Elementary School. I have had a few parents ask for copies of the prayers so that they can pray with their children or use the version of a prayer that the children have learned. Here are a few prayers that you might find useful.
Dear God,
Thank You for the gift of this new day! As we begin our school day, guide our path to live out the Vincentian virtues in all we do. Grant us simplicity, that we may be honest and straightforward in our words and actions; humility, that we may recognize our need for growth and trust in Your grace; meekness, that we may treat others with kindness and gentleness; mortification, that we may practice self-discipline and make sacrifices for the good of others; and zeal, that we may serve You with passion and bring others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen. Saint Vincent de Paul, our patron, pray for us.
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
Dear God, as I begin this day, keep me in your love and care. Help me to live as your child today. Bless me, my family, and my friends in all we do. Keep us close to you. Amen.
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, Most Gracious Advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of the womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and forever shall be, world without end. Amen.
God, I know you will call me for special work in my life. Help me follow Jesus each day and be ready to answer your call. Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth. O God, who instructed the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to relish what is right and always rejoice in your consolation, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Angel of God, my Guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petition, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen
Angel of God, my Guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion. Amen
